Hello SoulStar Sisters!

We are writing this in between the September 29^th new moon and the October 14^th full moon. The new moon signifies new beginnings and the full moon represents a time of completion. Sharlene is getting ready to move into her brand new soul-inspired dream home. While Cynthia is finishing up loose ends with work projects and clearing clutter around the home to make the transition from summer to fall.

With Halloween approaching, and the associations with the moon at this time of year, we thought it would be a delight to show you how to work with moon energy. The energy of the moon is feminine, intuitive, and subtle. It shows us how our lives ebb and flow, and how we are all connected.

Here's the big idea. If you tune-in to the natural cycles that surround you, you can live in greater harmony with all that is. Integrating the moon's nature in your life can unveil your greater purpose and bring forth more awareness.

We are so looking forward to sharing some thoughts and practical tips for awakening your own inner Moon Goddess!

October Feature Article!

Note from Sharlene: It was the time of the full moon while I was last in Fernie. What a sight to watch her rise over the trees and dance across the still night sky…lighting up the meadows and mountains. It was as though I could reach out and touch her crisp, still perfection…but alas I had to surrender to being her witness. And with my lunar visitation you can see why I am relating to John Dos Passos who wrote, “When I was a kid I used to tell myself the moon was a silver gong and if I could climb high enough to beat on it with both hands all my wishes would come true.” This was amazing timing given our topic for October is to write to you about the moon. How funny that the moon would manifest when I needed her inspiration to write about her. When researching this article, I found that the name Cynthia means “the moon.” That made me laugh coffee onto my desk…again perfect timing and synchronicity never cease to amaze me.

She sings as the moon sings:

The gravitational pull of the moon creates energetic experiences that affect the element of water on earth. The ebb and flow of ocean tides, plant life growth, and even menstrual cycles follow the lunar twenty nine and a half-day pattern (menstruation literally means “moon change”). The moon's phases can be used as a tool to tap into the flow and rhythms of life; in essence, tapping into feminine divine energy.

We've titled this article “Zephyr Moon” because a zephyr is a gentle, light wind. Unlike the boldness of the sun, the moon is much more subtle. It is interesting to note that the moon doesn't actually emit its own light but rather radiates a reflection of the sun's light. In astrology, the sun sign is the outer self (personality) and the moon sign is the inner self (soul essence).

The moon is symbolic of illumination and evolving consciousness. It is about seeing into the darkness, beyond the veils of unconscious illusions. Because of this, the moon is strongly linked to intuition. It acts as a mirror reflecting our authentic self. The Goddess of the Moon is the empress of the shadows. She rules the realm of your imagination and your dreams. There is more to her than meets the eye. When you can't find the answers in the light of day, this is when you turn your attention to the unseen and unmanifest. Sometimes you need to find out what is going on beneath the surface. Once you are able to illuminate the hidden parts, then, you can unveil the truth of the matter and move forward and make conscious choices.

There are many ancient traditions for working in harmony with the power of the moon. For example, Chinese New Year falls on the first new moon of the calendar year and ends fifteen days later on the full moon. During that time, there are certain rituals that are performed to enhance happiness and prosperity for the coming year. The Chinese also celebrate with special moon cakes during the Moon Festival in mid-Autumn. In Middle Eastern cultures, the moonstone is given to women as a talisman for fertility. In East Indian traditions, a moonstone is known for awakening the 3^rd eye. A moonstone's healing properties also include: helping alleviate premenstrual symptoms, providing hormonal balance, enhancing fertility, increasing intuition, and promoting a sense of emotional well being.

Greek and Roman mythology are rich with references to the Artemis, Diana, Selene and Cynthia – all names synonymous with the Goddess of the Moon. As a modern day Moon Goddess, you too can harness lunar power!

MAKING THE MYSTICAL PRACTICAL

The phases of the moon are determined by the moon's relative position to the sun. In this article, we'll briefly look at the two major cycles: the full and new moon. A full moon occurs when the moon is waxing (getting bigger) and the new moon when it is waning (getting smaller). Full moons are very powerful for completing or divesting of negative influences. New moons are equally potent for starting new ventures and attracting heart's desires.

MAKING NEW MOON WISHES

1. If you have a Wish List from last month, read it over , to see which came true - then thank the Universe. If it's clear one or two wishes are no closer to coming true, consider revising them. What on your list have you edged closer to?


2. Decide on your Top Ten Wishes or Intentions for the coming four weeks.


3. Be as specific or vague as you want to be, (and please include World Peace !)


4. Write them down - either on a sheet of paper with a pen, or with coloured pens, pencils and so on. The more energy you invest, the better your results are likely to be.


5. Read them out to the Universe then either bury or burn your list, or set it aside so you can check it this time next month , to see how your wishes worked out.


6. Get on with your week, safe in the knowledge that you've expressed your wishes to the Universe. Do all you can to make them come true.

Full Moon Ritual

If you have a collection of healing stones or crystals, Full Moon is a perfect time to energize your stones. Like anything that you use regularly, your stones and crystals can use a good cleaning and clearing away of energy that is not useful to you. Gently wash your stones one at a time under water while saying “I am cleansing, clearing, and releasing any excess or negative energy back into The Universe in a non-harming way.” Then place your stones in your windowsill or outside in the full moonlight for 3 full nights.

Full moons are a fantastic time to bring things to completion and/or release those influences that are holding you back. Providing you are clear on what you'd like to manifest in your life, this is an ideal time to ink a deal, sign a contract and have any difficult conversations to clear the air of something that has been bothering you.

When working with the full moon, you can utilize the time 3 days before and 3 days after for maximum effect.

CLOSING

Working with the aspects of the moon anchor the divine feminine to restore balance within us. When we get caught up in the masculine aspects in our lives it leaves a feeling of “something more” which is just the call to rebalance it all out.

By working with the rituals and honoring the natural cycles we are restoring wholeness to our lives. The greater will grow “your lift” so the further you will fly. You are you, aren't you? It's not magic…its nature…and you are a part of nature. So working with the moon is really working with yourself and this makes the mystical practical. Go out and get moonstruck! You'll love the lunacy of it all. Enjoy!
