HERstory!

Wondering what we've been up to? Well, we've spent time gaining clarity about our authentic purpose and how to help people while pursuing our dreams with passion and joy. Red Tree Healing Centre has evolved into SoulStar Discovery for Women and we want to share the HERstory with you. Our vision is to uplift human consciousness one woman at a time so that together we make the world a better place.

It started with a symphony of synchronicity. The beautiful image featured on the left is from the Wisdom Card deck we created. We were simply blown away when the artist, Elena Ray, gifted us this original piece called “Abstract Enlightened Woman” as a way to express how much she loves that her art was part of our work!

You can imagine our disappointment when the painting never arrived! Now THAT was interesting. We tried to take a more “spiritual” approach and not become obsessed with figuring out where the painting was. Yes, even we have our issues with detachment from the outcome! We realized, afterwards, that this was the universe's wonderful sense of humour in the form of a wildly funny metaphor: “Enlightenment just doesn't come in the mail! It is much more abstract.” It turns out, this event was our next step.

What follows is our account of the adventure in an email from Sharlene to Elena…

“Hello Elena! The shift started when you sent us your original painting of Abstract Enlightened Woman.  With the painting not finding her way to us we began to talk about how we needed to find her.  In essence, we were searching for female enlightenment HAHAHAHA!  I began a visual meditation, doing some graphic design around the words “female enlightenment” and it led us down the rabbit hole.  I worked with the words and colored them magenta.  I was thinking about how mainstream society thinks that pink is associated with the feminine.  But I didn't want a fluffy baby pink…so I chose a sassy, sophisticated, and confident magenta.  And then it began…

In one of our business meetings, I told Cynthia of my visual approach.  She wanted to see it.  Once we explored it together, we both thought about the meaning of color.  What is the meaning of magenta anyway?  Our research uncovered that magenta is the color of the 8th Chakra (we have only learned and taught 7 energy centers in the body).  This was PROFOUND.  But it went even deeper than that.  Connection to the 8th Chakra is about revealing your soul blueprint and determining your divine mission.  It is not only self-awakening but also compassion.  This became a message divined to help us build our business.  As you know, Cynthia and I have been focused on revamping our business model and this “message” came smack dab in the middle of it all.  It has helped us redefine what our business is.  Holy Smokes!!  To top it all off (cause the journey didn't end there) the 8th Chakra is called the Soul Star.  Cynthia's life's work has been exploring the language of the Soul and mine has been around exploring life's mysteries and working with universal energy (with a last name of Starr how could it not be).  It came down to the two of us literally coming together (Soul and Star).”

And so SoulStar came to be. You can see that these synchronistic events led us to the birthing of our NEW company, SoulStar Discovery For Women Inc.

And it all started with sending a picture with the intention of gratitude….Look where that led.  We do still wonder where the painting wandered to and we hope that someday she finds her way to us… but in the meantime we're grateful for the chain of events that she sparked and the synchronicity she helped create for us.  Joy is definitely in paying attention to all the things that happen around us.  You just never know how one gesture can lead to awakenings. What goes around comes around and this circle is expansive! Its all about choices and actions. How is that for powerful?

July Feature Article!

You might be surprised to hear us say this, but too many people yabber on about Karma and don't have a clue about it. Karma police. Karmalogic. Karma check. Karma metrics. Karma chameleon. Karma blah blah blah. Karma is described as many things: cause and effect, what goes around comes around, and the classic “everything happens for a reason.”

This really is a sore spot with us, because interpreting Karma this way doesn't help people deal with their lives and it doesn't change the world. Karma isn't about your life being predetermined for you. It's not about being a victim of circumstance, or having bad luck, or thinking, “poor me I can't do anything about it.” We want to share with you what Karma really is and how you can apply it in your daily round.

The word Karma itself means “action.” It's about taking complete responsibility for your life. We believe that Karma is in your own hands because you can learn from what's happened in the past and make better decisions as you move forward. Karma provides the situation, not the response. It creates the space to help you become a better human at “being.”

So, you may ask the question: how can Karma bring me solace, satisfaction, and comfort when I've been told it's the heavy burden of past action?

Introducing….Your Karma Queen! When you walk the path of the “Karma Queen,” you accept that every single one of your thoughts and actions – no matter how small or large - has a corresponding response that reflects back to you. In effect, you are the “soul” Sovereign of your domain. When you are not getting the results you want in your life, you are experiencing firsthand the karma you have created for yourself. Likewise, the aspects of your life that bring you effortless joy are also the result of the karma you have manifested for yourself. Think of Karma as a present you give yourself – you either love it or you wonder what the heck you were thinking.

Here's the big idea: awareness + choices = better results. What people normally miss in the equation is the “awareness” piece. And awareness can come at any time (before, during, or after an action). That means learning from your mistakes and taking full responsibility for your actions. That is the only way to achieve self evident truth. Learning and choosing differently leads to skillful and spiritual success in all aspects of life. Everything becomes the journey to self realization.

Now, you may be saying, “That's nice, but how do I do that?” Well here are some karmic approaches for you:

1. Nurturing Self– When you are taking care of yourself, you are undertaking a noble effort. By living your best life, eating well, increasing your vitality, listening to what your body needs, paying attention to your intuition, trusting yourself and laughing at your own crap, you become more self aware. And when you are living more consciously, you are not creating additional drama and chaos. Your biggest gift is to be a model of love and respect for yourself. How you love yourself is how others love you also.
2. Nurturing Others – This is not about helping others by trying to make things better, holding onto other people's stuff, or thinking you know what is best for them. That approach is carrying their burden on your back instead of nurturing their soul. Responsibility for your own stuff is enough to carry in this lifetime! Your most compassionate action is to show up with a loving, open heart and be a witness without judgment. When you fully honour the path that others choose to take, you also honour your own path.
3. Cherishing The World – By caring about your impact and footprint on Mother Earth, your actions contribute to the well being and sustainability of all humanity. Your choice to reduce, reuse, and recycle is exercising your Karma Queen's muscle. Our world's ecosystems are undeniably linked. What type of consumer you are is also a reflection of your level of consciousness.

Let's face it, you don't want to tarry when paying homage to your inner Karma Queen. How much richer would your life be if you experienced just one moment in the day with full awareness? And to further help you ponder this Karmalogic, you are invited to spend some time contemplating the following QUESTions and journal about what comes to you as you reflect.

QUESTion 1: What do you feel the world is withholding from you? How are you withholding that from yourself?

QUESTion 2: Who in your life are you wanting to change? How is that person reflecting something you would like to change in yourself?

QUESTion 3: Think of a world “problem” that you are concerned about (ie. poverty, war, eco-destruction). What action and responsibility are you willing to take in your own life?

QUESTion 4: Describe an aspect of your life you would like to change. What is the recurring pattern? What can you contemplate doing differently? Will what you do come after you?

At the end of the day, Karma is about action. Doing SOMETHING consciously is better than doing the same thing over and over unconsciously. Can you now see your own Karma Queen coming into view? Life is precious, so we really want to encourage you to study what you can about awakening to a deeper, more meaningful life, awaken to your true soul self, live life from your heart space, and harness your maximum potential.
