HERstory!
Today, August 8, 2008, the powerful influence of the number 8 reverberates throughout the universe as we witness an event that only happens once every 1000 years – 08.08.08.
The significance of this numeric alignment is profound on many levels. In the Chinese language, the number 8 sounds very similar to the Chinese word for “prosperity.” The belief is that numbers and words have power to manifest goodness in our lives. This makes 08.08.08 a day filled with a triad of luck and abundance for one and all.
August 8, 2008, also happens to fall between two significant astrological events:
- The new moon total solar eclipse on Friday, August 1: This eclipse focuses on forming ideas about how to get back on track with fulfilling our life's purpose.
- And then the full moon partial lunar eclipse of Friday, August 16: This partial eclipse manifests ways to make the seemingly impossible blossom into fullness.
Use the transformational energy of this special time to take action to create the life you know you were born to live!
Speaking of which – just as the sun and moon seemingly chase each other amongst the stars, and eclipse each other in lightness and darkness, this month's article is titled “A Shadow Of Sunlight: Seeing Beyond Duality.” Read on to find out how you can live more peacefully and in alignment with your destiny. "A Shadow Of Sunlight: Seeing Beyond Duality!"

One of the biggest difficulties women spiritual explorers face is living with duality. Duality is all-pervasive; it is present in everything around you.
Let's take a moment to chat about what this realm of duality is. According to Dictionary.com's WordNet, “duality is a division into two opposed groups.” So, duality is about dichotomy, doubleness, and polarity. Essentiality duality is a division of unity. In spiritual terms, duality refers to having two separate areas in your life. On one hand is your inner world (consciousness, spirituality, awareness, self-realization, your authentic self) and on the other is your outer world (form, society, materialism, the false face you present to the world). The challenge is to see beyond this illusion of duality. Aligning your life into one whole isn't difficult and we'll show you how.
Examples of dualities that show up in our daily round:
- male & female
- spirit & body
- happy & sad
- good & evil
- night & day
- inside & outside
Duality is like a pendulum swinging from one side to another. It is about extremes and polar opposites where each action has an equal and opposite reaction. But is that what life is really about? Is that living from a place of your true self? Is it authentic? How can you life your life from the middle instead of the swing?
Don't try to stop the pendulum from swinging. That's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth that there is no pendulum. Then, you'll see that it is not the pendulum that swings, it is only yourself. What matters is being centered in your full “youness.”
Science has proven that the Universe is an undivided whole in a perpetual state of movement. Essentially everything is energy. Society has trained us to believe that being separate is best. But, we are all spiritual beings having a human experience. And our experience can be one of unbroken wholeness rather than separation or extremes. Duality simply provides the opportunity for experience and through experience comes alignment, if you choose to see it and action it. If consciousness underlies a ll reality, then your reality can be whole. Come home to your “true you” through alignment.
What's In It For You? Seeing beyond duality can help you live more peacefully and more in alignment with your true purpose. By cultivating awareness and authentically showing up in all situations, you are better able to deal with life and ultimately be more centered in all you do.
How The Shadows Of Duality Manifest In Your Life
Think of a situation where you were trying to make a big life decision and your heart was saying one thing and your head another. It could have been about changing careers, leaving a relationship, having a difficult conversation, making a big purchase, or moving to another country. There is usually at least one life experience that sticks with you where you felt like you were a teeter totter going back in forth. You may have weighed the situation endlessly in your mind, the list of pros and cons were equal and as the deadline for your decision inched closer, you had no idea how or what you were going to choose.
Now, think of all the feelings and emotions you had while you were trying to make that decision. Here are some we came up with:
- judgment
- feeling like something is missing
- fear-based reality with illusion of separateness (competition) equals disconnection/ suffering
- compulsive, obsessive behaviours
- regret
- worry
- lack mentality
- seeking material goods in place of connection with self and others
- control
- selfishness
Here's The Big Idea
The wrenching angst of having to choose one over the other is the suffering of duality. It is about aligning your inner and outer alchemy. By opening your mind so you can fall into your heart, you can experience the harmony of alignment. The act of choosing either/or disappears , for when you are living in alignment with your true self, there is only ONE path. The one that chooses you! When you are able to integrate the knowledge of your mind, with the wisdom of your soul existence, one clear choice always emerges. No more big swings!
How To See Beyond Duality
If you're feeling a bit like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole, don't worry, you aren't in Kansas anymore Dorothy. And it's going to be alright.
When the dynamic of duality is at work in your life, you may be feeling stuck or even painted into a corner. This can mean that you are trying to force a decision when you don't have all the information yet. In this case, a little more patience is required. Seeing beyond duality means releasing judgment and reconciling the opposition of how you think life should be vs. the reality of what life simply is at that moment. Be present and not stuck in the past or looking to the future. This is the hard work of “letting go”, detaching from the outcome and flowing with the forces of the universe. Allow the sharp edge of what you are grappling with to soften. By overanalyzing something, it becomes more complicated. Osho says, “To be simple is arduous, because to be simple costs everything that you have.”
Duality is also a lot like “hedging your bets”. When you are not willing to make a stand for what you really believe in, your inner self and the face you show the world are locked in a “duel.” Until you choose to live a life with integrity, where who you are on the inside, mirrors who you are on the outside, duality will prevail. Do all that you can to live your life being in your own knowing. Live your true nature all the time. Align your soul by boldly creating your life to reflect your true self in all decisions and actions. QUESTions
- How is the pendulum of duality swinging in your life? List all the current situations where you are trying to choose one thing over another. How can you bring these choices in alignment with the life you really want to live?
- When are you wasting your energy on being something and someone you aren't?
- Think of your relationships – who can you truly be your quirky fabulous self with? Who are you guarded with?
Closing
Don't buy into the illusion that you must live an inner and outer life and that you need to choose one way over the other. Remember that alignment is the key, not a division of unity.
We encourage you to expand your awareness and access your complete self at all times, take inspired action, and bring your true essence to your life. By becoming whole in all you do, you create a new awareness that supports you in finding your woman's soul.
